Barcelona travel card for tourists - T-mobilitat

Barcelona travel card: get around with T-mobilitat

  • T-mobilitat is the rechargeable card system for travelling on public transport in Barcelona, giving you access to every mode of transport within the integrated network: metro, trains, buses, and trams.

  • The cards act as a wallet to hold Barcelona's integrated transport tickets; they do not work as a cash-card or pay-as-you-go moneder to store money. Even if you are only visiting the Barcelona Region for a few days, the system has suitable options for you

Choose your T-mobilitat card based on your type of visit

If you are visiting for just a few days, you will want a quick and easy way to get your transport ticket; if you are staying for longer, you might prefer the most durable option.

The anonymous cardboard card

  • It is anonymous and no registration is required to purchase it.

  • It can be bought from ticket machines at metro and train stations (including those at the airport), and at many retail outlets across the city, which you can check here.

  • It costs €1, which is added to the price of the transport ticket you choose to use.

  • It can be topped up without limits during your stay, although it only supports the most basic and anonymous tickets.

The virtual wallet for your mobile

  • Buy transport tickets and travel using the T-mobilitat app, with no physical card needed.

  • Download the app here: Android and iOS.

  • Signing up within the app is required; we recommend doing this slightly in advance, as registration confirmation can take a few hours in some cases.

  • It costs €1, which is a one-off payment added to the price of the transport ticket you choose to use. We recommend setting up the virtual wallet and making your purchase once you arrive in Barcelona.

  • It can be topped up without limits during your stay.

WARNING: If you are travelling from outside the European Union, you will not be able to properly download or configure the virtual wallet before arriving in the European territory. This is due to legislative regulations affecting NFC usage on iPhones. Once you are in Barcelona (or Europe in general), you can temporarily change your App Store location to complete the setup correctly, and change it back when you leave.

The personalised plastic card

  • It is a registered card and requires registration to purchase it.

  • It can be bought online via the T-mobilitat app (Android and iOS) or through this website, and we will send it by post, but only to addresses within Spain.

  • It can also be purchased in person at various customer service points across the network.

  • It costs €4.50, in addition to the price of the transport ticket you choose to use.

  • It can be reloaded without limits.

  • It is more resistant and durable, and a duplicate can be issued if lost, allowing you to recover any valid ticket you had topped up onto it.

Which transport tickets are you interested in using?

Once you have your T-mobilitat card, whether it is the virtual or physical version, it is time to choose which type of ticket best suits your needs for travelling during your visit.

This is a travel pass that can only be used by one person at a time. So if you're travelling with others, each person must have their own T-casual. It includes 10 journeys, and each one allows transfers between different transport modes (like metro and bus, train and metro, etc.) within a set time, so you can reach your destination without using up another journey.

PLEASE NOTE: The T-casual ticket does not cover metro journeys between the airport and Barcelona city centre; a single ticket must be purchased for this. However, it can be used for journeys by train or bus.

This pass includes 8 journeys and can be shared, meaning a small group can use it to travel at the same time. Each journey includes a transfer window that lets you combine different modes of transport to reach your destination without using up another journey.

PLEASE NOTE: The T-familiar ticket does not cover metro journeys between the airport and Barcelona city centre; a single ticket must be purchased for this. However, it can be used for journeys by train or bus.

If you’re planning to use public transport a lot, this is your best option: unlimited travel for 24 hours from the moment of first use. No need to worry about how many journeys you take.

This pass is designed for large groups to travel together using a single ticket. It includes a total of 70 journeys. Each journey allows a transfer window to combine different modes of transport and reach your destination without using up another journey.

PLEASE NOTE: The T-grup ticket does not cover metro journeys between the airport and Barcelona city centre; a single ticket must be purchased for this. However, it can be used for journeys by train or bus.

If you’re staying in Barcelona for a longer period, this option is very useful, as it allows unlimited travel for 30 days from the first use. It’s linked to an ID number, which you’ll need to enter at the machine when purchasing it, so only the registered person can use it.
